Hello and welcome to our blog! We are thrilled to reintroduce ourselves as RetiredReinspired. We are Lynn and Dave Abbey, and after nearly five years of retirement, we are finally back to share our adventures and insights with you.
Our journey began in 2019 when we retired from our careers as public educators. Full of enthusiasm, we launched RetiredReinspired with the aim of documenting our travels and experiences in this new phase of life. Our initial foray into retirement was filled with excitement. We spent a memorable month exploring Spain and enjoyed several trips to Fort Myers, visiting Lynn's sister and brotherinlaw. However, life had other plans, and we soon found ourselves sidetracked.
The pandemic hit, bringing our travels to a sudden halt. Undeterred, we adapted by investing in Large Marge, our 26-foot Leisure Travel Van motorhome. This wonderful vehicle became our ticket to adventure within Canada. We embarked on breathtaking trips to Ontario Parks north of Lake Superior and the stunning landscapes of Newfoundland. Despite these incredible experiences, we still struggled to keep up with our blogging goals.
In the spring of 2022, as pandemic concerns began to ease, another challenge arose. My father suffered a major stroke and was diagnosed with vascular dementia. As an only child, I, along with Lynn, dedicated ourselves to his care. We set a rule to stay within a day's travel distance to be able to assist him whenever needed. Over the next two years, we faced numerous hospital visits and witnessed his gradual cognitive decline. This past March, after battling kidney stones and a urinary tract infection, my father passed away at the remarkable age of 88.
With our daughter now grown and having moved into her own home with her boyfriend last December, we find ourselves in a position to revive our retirement dreams. We are determined to breathe new life into RetiredReinspired, sharing our adventures, insights, and the joy of living life to its fullest.
Through this blog, we aim to inspire others in their retirement journeys, offering a blend of travel tales, practical tips, and reflections on the precious nature of time. Life is fleeting and precious, and we are committed to making the most of every moment. Join us as we embark on this renewed adventure, exploring the world and savoring the richness of our golden years.

Wish we had been smart enough to find a ‘Large Marge’. We have a trailer but it’s getting harder and harder to work with it as we head toward our 80s. If ever you hear of one like yours up for grabs please let us know.
We too love to travel and although our travels often sidetrack to Australia, we still have lots to discover!
