Living Our Best Travel Life

Recently, we retired. Both of us had long and happy careers in education, first teaching, but also working as educational consultants and eventually, in leadership roles in schools and our system. Being educators was our professional passion, and years of working with students, families, teachers, and other educators had been very rewarding, bringing us lifelong memories and great personal connections in our community, our board, our province, and beyond. But, as they say, all good things must come to an end, and firm believers in leaving a party while we’re still having fun, we decided to pack it in and retire at the end of the school year in 2019.

Cruising in Caribbean

We both knew that travelling was something we had enjoyed all our lives, and we looked forward to this phase, travelling off-peak times (which educators never get to do!) to revisit places we love and to discover new places, too.

Summer still felt just like summer – fine weather in Southern Ontario, road trips to local destinations, and a couple of weeks in the woods outside of Timmins, Ontario. But… we knew that when school went back, our new status would hit us, so we wanted to plan our first big trip for September 2019.

Go BlueJays!

It was the planning and preparation for that trip that led to #RetiredReinspired. We found so many great resources – blogs, YouTube videos, Twitter and Instagram feeds, all focused on travel. BUT, we were dismayed to find that many bloggers, vloggers, and other influencers were either much younger or considerably older than we are. We started talking about our demographic and what we would have loved to see on all platforms to help us with dreaming, planning, and living our best travel lives.

Here’s to living our best travel life!

Well, this is it. We know we’re still learning about how to create interesting and dynamic content, which videos will be most helpful or engaging, how frequently to tweet, and whether it’s better to go #nofilter or not, but we’re jumping onto our platforms, and hope you’ll want to join us sometimes to see how and where we live the #EmptyNestLife now that we’re #RetiredReinspired!!!!
