In the fall of last year RetiredReinspired travelled to Spain for three weeks. One of the highlights of the trip was a day long hike on the Caminito Del Rey. This is a walk through a series of mountain and cliffside walkways. The path which is over 100 years old was originally created so the the King of Spain could inspect the hydro plant that was there. Over the years the concrete and steel paths deteriorated but many daring hikers walked the path up until it early 2000 when some hikers died on trail. June 2011 the local government of Malaga decided to renovate and make the path into a safe tourist attraction. The walkway reopened on 29 March 2015. I recommend if you are ever near Malaga, Spain that you take the time tour this attraction. You can book time and dates for your own Caminito at https://reservas.caminitodelrey.info/?lang=en.
